Just picked up my S2000.. drove it 400 miles home.. NICE!!!!

A spring sprung off from the drivers side of the convertible top.. I can see where it goes by looking at the other side but it's not easy to fit. Any one else had this happen before? I think the spring assists the motor when pulling the convertible top on or off...

I'd guess that there is a heck of a lot of tension on any springs involved with the convertible top, play safe - take it to the dealer and make sure they know you are not very happy at a Honda playing up in this fashion after 400 miles....

Edit: I know this is unlikely (as you say you can see a similar spring on the other side of the car) but its not a thin 4" long loosely wound metal spring is it? E.g. the one that forms part of the ultrasonics/roof interface switch on UK Cat 1 alarms and resides in the drivers side of the roof mechanism.... they've been known to break before now.

Flippin monarch.. my S2000 is SO much more important than the jubilee!!!!!

It's definitely not an ultrasonic because it has no alarm.. the spring is about 3" long and connects between two of the struts across the convertible top. I've managed to re-fit it myself after careful observation the other side.

From what I've been told, it provides assistance to the motors.. It obviously wasn't fitted correctly because there is no way in hell that thing is coming off again.. it was a real bugger to get on.

Glad to hear your motor is back in one piece again anyway

This happened to me with the demo car I borrowed from the dealer for a day.

I immediately drove it to my parents house so my Dad could give it the once-over.

In taking the hardtop off we noticed the spring had come off and got very worried, especially as it wasn't our car. It was fiddly but we managed to fit it back.

Anyone else report this ?
