There is a sprint on sat but we are there for the Mid Cheshire Sprint on Sunday, Graeme is also booked in with his S/C S2000 so will be interesting to see his speed through the trap

A very interesting weekend, with new PB's being set and unfortunately a little crash with G.

It started off a very quiet meeting with only 37 cars booked into the event, and most of them being Austins. Ray managed to set his new PB with a 67.03, being a very fast time. Ricardo shaved off another few tenths of his best time in practice but didn't managed to replicate in the timed runs. Fortunately in the last run of the day, I managed to beat my PB. I set the class record at Curborough last year with a 66.83 and managed to shave it down to 66.51.

A bit of a disaster for G in the charged S, but nothing we can't fix (I hope). I'll let him fill you in if he feels up to it.

Big thanks to everyone this weekend, made it a lot of fun and was great to be back out in the sunshine.

AS Mike said a mixed bag of emotions at the last sprint, i went back to Curborough to compete there for the first time on 1B tyres as the championship we did last year only allowed 1A , I had also fitted a 4.6 cwp to a spare diff i had to use on the hill climbs so it was a step into the unknown, previously i had being around 69 to 70 sec on the fig of 8 layout with 1 dip down to 68 on a great battle with a trio of Lotus Elise a couple of MX5's a fiat X19 Turbo and of cause Mike who beat me into 2nd place while he broke the class record just for good measure,

Any way back to the sprint with only 4 cars in our group, i lined up for the start the light went green drop the clutch and shit the same as at the dam sat there with the wheels spinning, i will have to work on my launch can't decide if it's the diff or the 1B tyres but my 64ft time was 2.79 3 tenths down on my usual launch at Curborough but by the end of the lap i had set my best time on the fig of 8 at 67.48, still a tad slower than Mike but at least i had closed the usual 1.5 sec gap, after a very quick turn around i was off again this time still a bit of spin but not as bad as the first launch and what felt like a good lap, but shock and horror as i crossed the line 71.64 WTF how the hell did that happen i defo didn't stop for a brew at flag pole, back at the pits i park up and grab Mike so he can work the timer thingy (i an't got a clue and they won't let me hit it with a hammer) now where did i go wrong ? WHAT!! no way i had only done the longest launch in sprinting history at 5.89 get the Fu*k outta here no way, anyway it was only practice so knuckle down and get back on it, soon we were up for our first timed run and i was back down to high 67's but still down on my 64ft time, then dinner time and have a chill, It didn't seem like 5 minutes and we were back out and off i went around the coarse in a flash not really knowing what i was doing as it was soon over and across the line, holly sh*t 67.04 my PB Mike had gone first and when i got back to the pits he was the first to congratulate me ,,,i had beat him at Curborough for the first time since my first sprint 18 months ago Yeah haha i win stick that in ya pipe and smoke it, hang on what's that on the tanoy we are ahead of schedule so we are going to have two extra runs! Noooooooo i don't want another i.ve won can we go home instead, no one would listen as they all wanted more runs so back we go again and i can honestly say i cocked it up shit start back end out everywhere and across the line in 67.99 straight back to the pits and Mike had only gone and done a 67.03 basta*ds he had beat my best time by 0.01 of a sec the twat, i.d best get my shit together and off we got again with Mike setting a new class record with a 66.51 and me ? well no where near so the day was done and i came home 2nd,,,well done Mike on your win and new record,

Now onto this weekend and we head to Harewood Hillclimb on Sun 27th for our first competitive run at the venue but i have a feeling i will be royally thrashed as there are 24 cars booked in our group with the top 18 being regulars at the hill and the top doz doing it around 66 sec, on my school day i managed 80 sec Hahahaha , Mike should make up for my lack of speed so hopefully i will be overlooked, there are two other S2000's booked in with the classic marques so will run in a different group.
Should be a good day as there are also bikes and sidecars booked in as well, altogether about 148 cars and bikes booked in, if anyone's there watching come over to say Hi.

Currently not sure how I currently feel about the weekend.

I'm super excited to run my home course for the first time, but I'm running my home course for the first time. We are definitely going to get spanked by the regulars. It'll be an awesome day no matter what happens, always fun to be out pedalling.

So it was Round 6 (Sat) & Round 7 (sun) of Time Attack at Croft circuit this weekend just gone.

little bit of info on us - The driver of the s2k this year is Umar, he has been doing Time Attack for about 7 years and has got a championship winning Mazda RX7, this year he was supposed to go up a class into PRO but the regulations means a lot of work on the car full strip down modifiy the cage to meet the regulations (double door bars and so on) so while its having this work done its having a engine rebuild sequential box and stuff like that done. Some my remember my s2k i had crash on the road ( literally a year ago today ) and put the engine up for sale for strong money if it went i was going to break the rest of the car but it didnt after a couple months for sale so i decided to get it back together as cheap as possible and use it as a track toy, as Umars car is not ready for this season i have lent him my s2k to do the season in.

So this season we are running in Clubman +, at the start of the season the spec of the car put us in Clubman but there was only one entrant in Clubman + (Dan in the Dynotec evo8) and as Umar has been doing this for a while and we are just having some fun this year the organisers asked if we wanted to go up a class so he has got some one to have a play with thats fine with us gives us something to push towards.

Results can be seen here Time Attack Championship - It's not racing... It's Time Attack

Onto round 6

It Started with a day off work on Friday to get the van and car loaded up, we wanted to leave out at 2/3pm so we could get to the circuit for about 7pm but as usual we didn't leave untill about 4pm and the Friday traffic wasn't on our side. We were told that the Eurospec boys we going to leave by 11am to get up there and get set up but they didnt leave Guildford until 5pm so we got there before them and unloaded the car got a little pitch set up and left for the apartment in Darlington, few beers down the town then it was time to get head down ready for the morning.

Saturday we got to the track about 7am and started to get set up. Driver ( Umar ) went and done the breifing, Road wheels off, new pads on the front, race wheels on check all fluids plug in the laptop check a few things as it was holding the revs very slightly as you let off reset the TPS and all was good, now for scrutineering didnt even get the Suit and helmet out and i here one say ''yep im happy with that'' all good passed . back to our pit area and await the first session to start. We were out in the first session which is warm up and all is ok no incidents. Done a few checks to the car to the car before the next outing all is ok, went out for the next session Practice same again all going well 2 mins from the end of the session he pulls into the pits he tells us there is a grinding noise so we take it back to the pits end of session for us, rear brakes were gone we didnt have any more with us so a quick ring round and we get one of the lads to get some from standard brembo pads from ECP. They get back 10 mins before the next session Qualifying (points round 5- 1st 4- 2nd 3 - 3rd 2 - 4th 1 - 5th and so on ) right pads fitted brake bleed all round wheels back on and out for the session, sencond lap and off well not off the track but a spin at Hawthorn bend kept it on the black stuff fortunately he was pointing it the right direction lit the tyres up and off he went. We came in last in our class (3rd there is a 320hp Fiesta st in our class he been in from round 2 or 3) we did get 2nd with a 138.091 but Umar run a tyre over the line and the time got cancelled but we were only 0.17s behind the fiesta as the next best time it was a 1.38.386 . Back to the pits for a check over wheels off and cleaned oils checked windows cleaned and ready for the final ( points round 10 - 1st 9 - 2nd and so on) so out we go for the last session all going well bit of traffic on a few laps couldn't get a good time down then there was an incident which stopped the race time the Escort cosworth and the astra had a touch which span the astra and ended up bend in the rear frame, so that was lifted off and the session continued we could only get a time of 139.992 in the final which puts us at the back again which we were expecting so that wasnt a bad day at the track car back to the pits and few adjustments ready for sunday round 7.

Nice one Mike, looks like an action packed day. I'd be interested to come along to a time attack event see what the action is like. Also, is that a Datsun in the last snap?
