Thumbs up Squeak Squeak

A while ago I noticed a squeaking noise intermittently coming from the offside rear, seems to be when going round left hand bends and stops when applying the brakes.

It's got a lot more frequent after a 1st Lotus driver training day last week where the car was driven quite hard.

Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like brake pads rubbing, has it become more prominent with hotter weather?

Yes, I think it has. Is there anything I can do about it?

Sounds like brake pads to me to - I had the same thing (squeeking when turning in one particular direction) on my civic - turned out the pads needed to be replaced.

Also *could* be wheel bearing. Lateral G causes weight thrust against bearing, resulting in squeak that becomes grind eventually.

Had it in a few of my other cars.

Thanks chaps, just been out for a blast and it's getting quite annoying now. Will take it in to the dealers next weekend.

Thread Ressurection !!!

After driving the 'S' hard today I've got the exact same thing from the nearside rear.

What was the outcome of this. I'm hoping brakes as I've just bought new discs and pads.

However if it is something more sinister I still need to get it sorted - very annoying.

Any ideas please

Andy

I have this when slowing or pulling away, and its a siezed caliper. I noticed it wouldnt roll on its own, stopped quite hard, and the wheel is covered in brake dust.

It could also be a pad being very low - they start to squeal even when not braking when they hit the wear indicators.

I'm pretty certain its my rear brakes. Theres no meat left on the pads now and I've got my new discs and pads and hoses in the garage ready for fitting

Another... holy thread resurrection

I have the same problem, started after some spirited driving at the weekend playing cat n mouse with my mate in his BoxS

o/s/r squeak squeak... at low speeds. The squeak happens in time with wheel revolutions. Seems to stop when I apply the brakes. I hope it's the pads & not the bearing/hub.
