Default Squeaking drivers seat

OK, I have finally found something annoying on the car.

My seat squeaks. Especially on corners...

I think it is because I am tall and have to have the seat right back, probably causing it to rub on the hooks on the rear panels.

Anyone else suffer from this? Any suggestions for remedies?

I think I'll remove the hooks and see if that improves matters. I don't think I want to let the local dealer loose on it just yet...

Yes this is quite a well known problem - my inclination is always to shove the seat as far back as possible, but as you say, this causes an annoying noise. My solution to this problem is not very imaginative I'm afraid - I find having the seat 1 notch forward from the back on the seat rail, but the seat back reclined as far as possible without coming into contact with the rear panel works for me.

I would be interested to hear any more innovative solutions!

I put a hand towel between the seat and plastic. Seems to work. I've purchased some self adhesive felt that I plan to install in the spot.

I got some self-adhesive black plastic pads. Trimmed down to the small contact patch and they work a treat. Invisible too with the seat in position.

Now I've got a squeaky Impreza seat.....

That sounds promising, where did you get them from Andy?

I got them from small motor parts shop in Burnley......

I seem to remember seeing something similar in Halfords close to the interior fitting clips. They're designed to fit in between panels to stop them squeaking.

Andy

Yea another one!

Thanks for the tip, I'll pop in Halfords tonight. (No doubt picking up many other "essential" items I never knew I needed until I saw them )
