when i have driven TC fitted cars (FWD) i found it more of a complete pain and neusence than even remotely useful.

rwd i cant comment on, but i certainly wouldnt be buying based on my fwd TC experience.

majority of problems happen on speed through corners. to fast and you just go straight over instead of turning, or you turn more, back end gets upset and slides out due to excessive input controls. TC wont help you. sometimes you need the power to get round the corner.

VSA is another kettle of fish all together.

i had a scary moment today that involved a peak of a hill, wet and vtec in 2nd. tc would of helped but only because i was in a straight line - saves the twitching ring from touching cloth.

I have auto crossed for over 5 years now. That is good driver ed. But when you are getting into a bother on the street, the driver's ed never seems to really come to the rescue. I will be installing the RLTC soon too. Macho be dammed.

Whilst my car doesn't have TC, and while I've not got into any real bother on the road (yet!), given the option of Honda VSA, I'd certainly take it, and leave it switched on.

It'd be turned off for a track day, even though I'd probably be lapping quicker with it switched on.

My TC experiences are limited: Bachi's M3 at Rockingham was very wierd with the TC on. It felt as though the car had VTEC when pulling out of the corners, taking time to spin up and give me power, I was disappointed in this so called superfast car. However, after a few laps proving to Bachi that I could drive a bit, he kindly switched it off. An extraordinary difference, much more kick out of the corners, even though the car was not sliding around - it was way too intrusive for track driving, that is for sure.

Secondly, I had a go in a Merc 500SL at the Mercedes World place at Brooklands. They have a wet circle (oo-er missus) which you can drive round and round sliding all over the place - it's like the wet grip facility at Rockingham but a complete circle. Whilst one could, with a delicate throttle and minimal steering input, drive round the circle, any slightly hamfisted input result in a big spin. Donuts were a breeze. Turn the TC on and the result was nothing short of amazing. One could feel the system braking the outer front wheel keeping things in line, even with silly inputs to throttle and steering - a fantastic system.
