Default Steering Wheel Clicking

Hey!

Reversing the car into the garage tonight I noticed the steering wheel makes a (one) click noise (similar to that of an indicator sound) when turning left or right. The click can also be heard while the engine is off, ignition on.

I've not noticed the sound at speed but will check next time I take the car out.

Sound is definitely coming from the steering column rather than the underside of the car.

Does anyone's else's S2000 do this? Is it something to be concerned about?

Cheers,
Alex

Checked, no sign of any problems...

Here's a vid of said noise.

Try it with the indicators on, see if it coinsides with the self canceling position.

Good question...

No it doesn't seem to coincide, the clicking only seems to occur when the steering changes direction (regardless of how many turns you apply).

I've attached another vid...

Steering lock? I'd remove the shroud and have a poke around.

Yeah, the plan is to have a good look tomorrow evening.

Is the steering lock a serviceable item? Is it prone to failure?

Fingers crossed its not the steering rack £££££
