Yeah, I think the roll hoop speakers make a definite difference. They make it sound like you are in a much larger cabin.

Thanks for replies so far guys.

SimmoS2K - "I would rather listen to the engine to be honest"

When the S is you daily drive through crappy traffic and it's the only vehicle in the household the radio/CD is important. It's used for trips to Sainsbury's and other mundane destinations as well as weekend blasts so that's why a new head unit is on my list.

I'm looking to get one of these in the next few weeks

However, waiting for my friend who knows about interface controls etc to come back from holidays to check it out and fit it!

Take a look at my sig for a good 06/07 setup which is similar to the setup Mikey had.

The rear roll hoop speakers are okay - a little tinny, but fade them down a touch and you get good 'surround' sound effects.

I love the setup with the Alpine HU and my Ipod, they work brilliantly together and the sound quality is excellent.

I will probably have a similar setup in my next car regardless of what car I get.

I do believe a few people have fitted these already. Assume you've searched Dawn?

Right from the off I said I'd change the audio setup. Have I done it? Have I f$&k!

Oh you lucky guys with the 06-07 models. Speakers on the roll-hoop .
I have been wondering for quite some time when this subject would be brought up.
I think that sound is the ONE area where the S definately needs upgrading.

I am more after quality at normal (depending on vehicle speed and engine drone) sound levels and good audio performance when hood is down. The OEM setup is just not enough for me, especially in my 03.

Wonder whether JBL or someone in that category provides anything worth considering and whether I could upgrade my roll hoops.

Any feedback/ideas would be much appreciated.

Change the headunit first. It makes a huge difference.

I also bought these ones

LUCID AUTO

I am still waiting to arrive from USA so i have not install them yet and i cannot comment on the audio improvement but i believe they will do a difference. I can let you know as soon as i install them.

Does the Alpine fit without any mod?
I gather from previous threads that the glove box is the ideal place to put an iPod is this true?
I don't get the car till the end of the month, I may get Honda to install one before I pick it up (it depends what they are charging)
Glad to hear (Derbinator) that the dash controls work but a bit worried about how well it fits, will the flap close covering the radio?
Pictures would be useful.

It needs the 90 degree tabs filing slightly
I had my Ipod in the glove box but the cable kept getting caught and bent.
I now have it in the seat pocket

Jerry,

1 month ago i installed an Alpine head unit (CDA 9853R) and the Alpine dash control adaptor (KCE 865B)

It was a very tight fit but i finally manage it and the radio flap door closes without any problem. You just have to slide all the cables in the right direction to fit. I heard that the modifry dash control adaptor is smaller and it will be even easier.I do not have any pictures but you can check this. Very detailed thread.

After market radio installation

Hope i helped

Chris
