Default Strange (high) idle after driving.

So after a good run when I pull up at lights or a junction, sometimes the car tends to to idle at between 2000/3000 revs.

This doesn't happen all the time, just on the odd occasion. Been happening for about three weeks now.

After I blip the throttle it returns to normal.

My immediate thought was to clean the IACV, but after having a bit of a read I understand that this stops the car 'from' stalling and shouldn't really be causing the over reving.

I'm also aware that my throttle cable needs a little adjustment to take up some slack as its a little too loose.

I'm going to adjust the cable first and see if that does anything, then after that, if its not too much of a hassle give the IACV a clean too.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen really ??

Car is NA and mapped on an AEM EMS.

Strip out the throttle butterfly and give it a good clean up

Mine does this on AEM EMS sometimes.

Sticky throttle I think.

Check your cable isn't too tight. Resting throttle voltage should be 0.45v plus or minus 0.5v

Mine does exactly this aswell,I would love to know what it causes it.

Ive got a loose throttle cable, cleaned out the IACV and the throttle body is a new spoon effort. I was adamant that I must have a vacuum leak but have searched all round and not found one.

Something in the mase map?

Won't be a leak, Raz.

I will speak to Romain about it and post up.

Next time it happens don't blip the throttle and just pull the accelerator pedal towards you, if the revs then go back to normal then you need to service your throttle body, doesn't matter how tight the cable is or how loose it should always spring back to its starting position, sometimes it gets too dirty that it can't close fully

I had this problem on my old AE86

The throttle valve on my S is all shiny and springy- I thInk it's something in the aem base map for our car.

It would be nice to get a comment from Mase on this. Was your initial map done by him MB an Suits?
