Default Strange Problem

Hi Guys,

I've had my S2000 for a couple of months now and it's making a strange noise which is getting louder week on week. It makes a sort of droning/humming noise when I turn and accelerate at the same time. However, it only does this when the car has had a run.

For example, to get out of my street I have a 90 degree turn into another street, in the morning as I accelerate around this there is no noise. On my way home from work when the car is hot and I've been driving for around 25-30 minutes I do get the noise, and if I stop accelerating it will go away. It happens when turning both ways when maneuvering at slower speeds.

My car is still under warranty until May so I'm hoping it'll be something that is covered under warranty!

Im not F1 pit crew but sounds like wheel bearing to me, can you take it back to the supplier and get them to check it over.

Bearing, or worse case scenario......the diff, but it's under warranty, so no worries

My money is on a wheel bearing though.

Get to the garage soon Sara that sounds like it could end up being expensive! My guess is the diff because it's only under acceleration but the wheel bearing is also a strong possibility.

If its only doing it after a run - it could be diff related - ie the oil getting thinner at a higher temp and thus only making the noise when the oil is warm/hot...

Just a thought - how is the oil level btw?

if it were a wheel bearing i'd expect it to be more pronounced on a particular turn direction, if not could be a duff diff but either way it'll be warranty

Well I dropped her off at the Honda garage this morning about 8am. They called me at 10am to say that they were having trouble replicating the sound and could only think that the brakes might need stripped and cleaned!

So I went through the whole story with the boy again, that it only does it when warm, you need to be turning a corner or doing a manouever and be almost on full lock and it only does it when accelerating. It does it when turning to the left or the right and does it to me every day witrh the noise getting louder every week.

He said that they will try to take it for a longer run and see if they can hear the noise
