SUggestions for France trip (o/night or 2 nights)
Does anyone have any suggestions for a run over to France using the chunnel.
We're thinking of going in late June (last week of) for an overnighter or a couple of nights and I'd hate to get stuck in a formula 1 in Calais
Alls suggestion greatly appreciated. ta.

VFB do packages for short stays. Otherwise try Logis de France for Hotels. Plus don't ignore the speed cameras. DVLA can provide vehicle info to foreign authorities from Jan this year.

Make for Rheims and the champagne area. Apart from the stunning cathedral to gaze at, some champagne houses have organised tours which include underground cellars, and tastings - fascinating. Heidsieke ( ? spelling the best )
Should you wish to be reflective of the good fortune in your life incorporate a visit to the Somme, and Ypres in particular. Here every night at 8pm the Last Post is played beneath the soaring arch of the Menin gate in memory of those who fell during the first world war & have no known grave. I challenge anybody not to choke back a tear.
Nearby Tyne Cot cemetry is hugely haunting yet beautiful, but not when coach trippers, or hordes of kids are about. In the silence of a dawn it's almost too much to bear.
Enjoy the wide open spaces and yes however skilled you are behind the wheel avoid Paris.

Logis de France are usually pretty useful for good accomodation at reasonable prices, but if you want something a bit more upmarket then try somewhere from here http://www.sawdays.co.uk/maps/france/index.html
