Default Supercharged S2K or M3 E90

Howdy all

Perhaps a daft question to ask on here but has anybody gone to or come from a e90 m3?

supercharged S2ks are e90 money and a lot of things I have read on Bmw forums are yeah well ones a Honda and the others a Bmw e90 every time.

Its a a completely different car especially if you have 400 plus bhp in the s2000 rather than 240? The comparison comes closer

any thoughts as I’m looking to get back into somthing like a s2k but most if not lol my friends are saying Bmw

general road use and occasional track day

cheers
ross

Search the Car Talk Non-S2000 forum, quite a few people made the switch (arsie, winfreak to name two)

Yes in a different way any some people said like a s2000.

Perhaps forums are quiet I have searched a lot I was just after some info my head says s2k because I like the light chassis plus balance, I like high Reving cars too, I rode in a hks supercharged s2000 yest and it didn’t feel lightening but it felt good

i haven’t had a s2000 in 6 years so excuse me for not remembering if it would compete with m3

If it's general road use mostly, I'd go Beemer as it's way more comfy. I hated the S as a daily and that was only going 16 miles up the M27 in rush hour traffic. If you can use it as a weekend toy for the summer, then it's great. Or a track toy, even better.

I really like old beemer seats though. Sofa comfort. If you're talking about comparative power, on the limit handling, etc... who cares if it's a road car?

As your said .... completely different animals . I came from a e92 m3 to a n/a S2k and toyed with the idea of charging it . The m3 is a way more competent car in every way compared the S2k ..... I’d probably say a e92 m3 dct would be quicker than a charged S2k just purely down to be able to use the power in the m3 everywhere...... but and it’s a big but , the S2k is just such a good feeling car to drive . As many have said , you can’t put your finger on it but it’s just a brilliant, fun honest small sports car .

If it was my money I’d be looking at a cayman s with pdk..... ( or even a boxster s ) best of both cars . Classic n/a engine , amazing handling , good to look at , build quality ect

edit - just to add I’d be looking at competition pack m3 .... nicer damper settings and holding their value better . I have a little mk5 golf gti along side the S2k and looking at getter back into a m3 comp pack in the near future.

Its probably this that i am lusting for. I have had no end of big saloons in the last 5 years but miss a basic fun car with a bit of power to suit

just need to get your head around it not being that fast and start to appreciate what’s its good at ..... putting a smile on your face , wind in ( my receding) hair and it being a lovely thing to drive .

I went from s2000 to e92 m3 because the s2000 started to really piss me off with daily use

For me I think it would be a really easy decision, if it's purely a second car you choose to drive then when you fancy it then s2000, if it's a car you have to use regularly then e92 m3.

I've been commuting in the m3 for a year and a half and 18k miles now and it's just lovely, nice and comfortable but still fun to play with and still puts a smile on my face when I drive it, which in the s2000 I'd lost within weeks.
