Default TCT issues

Hi, i have just put a note up in the for sale section hoping to buy a timing tensioner as mine will 'tick' very loudly on idle during a spirited run, the ticking usually goes away again and I believe these are the characteristics of the TCT needing replacement.

My question is however, if I drive the car hard with the current TCT problem will it damage the car in anyway?

Thanks for any help, oh and if you do have a TCT lying around I would be happy to take it off your hands, pm me the details, thanks for any help.

Depends how long has it been doing it for?

In my mind I think left a long time it could take out the chain and cause guide wear, which then 'could' result in a failure thus a big engine bill IIRC it will should keep the chain correctly taught.

Someone please correct if im wrong.

EFA.

Mine has been doing it for almost a year now, although only slightly to start with. Picking up a new TCT from someone tomorrow night, so will get that sorted in the next couple of weeks.

OK I have now managed to source a brand new TCT for a VERY good price almost as good as the infamous thread to which Gritty refers. It will arrive next week, and judging by Grittys 'one year running' I suspect i will be ok until then, futhermore the person sourcing the TCT is also of the view that you can run for quite some time without issues ... so thanks for your views ... I am off to close the wanted thread now.
