Okay, i think i may need to replace the TCT.

I imported a TCT from HTG just under 4 years ago, do they last this long? or am i due for a replacement?

TBH i need to have a better listen tomorrow, but wondering how long they last?

Why would it have a shelf life?
It's not like cabbage.


Edit - Ah got it - you fitted one 4 years ago.

I think 70K is when people normally replace them.

 

Of course it depends on a few factors like how one drives the car and timing chain, i was just wondering what an average expected life is...

In 4 years I've covered approx 40k.

 

I replaced my TCT and within less than 10k miles I was getting the dreaded sound that it was needing replaced again ....

I did a search and discovered Jaeger's thread on how to fix a TCT ..

So I followed the instructions and haven't had a problem since.

 

My car had done 58k and started to make the tell tale noises, ordered on from HTG and it lasted a 1000 miles, bought a second and its dones 2.5k so far without any issues.

In hindsight I wish I had just changed the oil on my original as I was using mobil 1 and it was too thin which wasnt helping.

 

HAs any one got an old knackered one I can have ?
