Default There and Back Again!

Well it's been far too long since I last drove an S2000! It's great to be back in one again

I had a new MY02 for just over 2 years before moving on to a boxster for a couple of years, then an Impreza WRX for a couple more, before finally getting my MY04 last month. I can honestly say the S2000 was, and still is I'm glad to say, the best car for lots of different reasons... another time, another thread....

I know this has been covered before but tough!

Things I like about the MY04 car:
1. rear far more stable with the bigger rims (the original car should have had 17" rims from day one if you ask me)
2. lights are better (looks and light output)
3. mixed red/black leather spot on - my old the black/black was a bit drab... [incoming!]
4. audio system is better (still no Bose though)
5. VTEC jump def has less of a kick - good and bad I suppose... thought they hadn't tweaked the engine? Hmmm....
6. Exhausts ends look more butch
7. More feel through the steering. Poss due to the bigger rims. Having said that, I've just come from an Impreza... truly awful.
8. Tunnel, roof down, airbox off... def missed that!

Things I got 're-acquainted' with and had a bit of a laugh with over the last couple of weeks:
1. the windscreen/light wash - WHAT were they thinking?! That fuse is coming out...
2. the kangarooing - ah, how I missed that - 70 (ish)mph on the motorway, hit traffic jam, crawling in 1st... then bouncy bouncy bouncy - clutch in, 2nd gear, back to first.... and repeat for remainder of said jam!
3. the fuel gauge - don't get me started! Much worse on the 04 car! Some things never change eh?
4. Clutch still nice and heavy - forgot about the left-calf-weight-training in traffic queues...
5. Might be just my car, but the gears seems a tad more notchy than the MY02, still the slickest box I've used though.
6. Nearly forgot this one, the infamous S2000 whistle - seems lourder on my new car!

On a more serious note, has anyone solved the 'rattling-coin-problem' in the central compartment? Why didn't they put a rubber base in it? My parking shrapnel is making a hell of a noise in there!

Cheers

Get yourself down to somewhere like Hobbycraft and buy a couple of sheets of black A4 sticky backed foam for a few bob. Use that to line your compartment and no more rattles.

Cut my sheets to fit and it looked really neat ...

Glad to hear your back in the fold ...
