Thinking about selling...
I've been an S2000 driver for about 2 years or so now, which isn't really that long (although I'm on my 2nd S!!!) but as I've changed jobs throughout the time I find myself commuting more often. I'm based at home some of the time, so the S is ok for local jaunts and fun but my actual office base is in Warrington and I live in Sheffield - which means Snake Pass and all the lovely Manchester motorways and back in rush hour at least twice a week. It can take 2 1/2 hours each way, in slow moving traffic and it's starting to tell a little.
So I'm toying with the idea of trading her in
for a.......
Honda Accord 2.4L Executive (5sp Auto box!!!
) cos it'll be easier and comfier for work. (and 1000 quid a year cheaper on insurance too) Hopefully getting a test drive later this week - looks like it does what it says on the tin though. A big comfy mile muncher.
Any words of wisdom?
(Oh, and I guess that means I have to buy an R1 for kicks at weekends. Damn!)

Ayup Neil, it's not going too bad mate - just really busy with work lately so I'm not on here as much as I'd like. Still drumming and playing bass, of course! What about you? Still playing bass I assume, given your change in username!!!
Which 2.2L did you drive? The only one in the current range is a CDTi diesel jobbie...

I've got a old style Accord Type V (2.3l), and it is OK for when I'm not in the S.
Last week, I had a new Accord 2.4 Executive Manual for an extended test drive from Honda UK. It didn't really feel any faster than my 2.3 and not nearly as sorted as the S . The VTEC seemed to come in quite late and then it was all over.
However, it was dead comfortable (once I finally managed to get the seat adjusted just right...to much choice!) I did seem to have a problem with kangarooing when cold though. Never did quite master that. I suppose the Auto wouldn't have that problem, but then I wouldn't have the Auto.
Over all, though, it seemed like a really good car (and the Sat Nav is much easier to use than the one in my Type V).
I don't think I'd trade in my S for one though!

Don't wanna trade mine in at all Hondaboy, but a 5 hr round trip (on the bad days) is not fun in an S2000 unless the weather's nice enough to get the hood down. I'm gutted to think I'm headed back to the "real world" of "normal" cars but whilever I'm doing those sorts of journeys it may not be practical to drive anything but a normal car...
It must have been the 2.0l then. was passenger on a test drive and we were 4 up, but it seemed a bit gutless. Best to test drive it yourself I guess. The Accords seem to lose a lot in their first year so I'd try and get a nearly new one.
That or get a nearly new Mondeo for

Had an Accord diesel recently as a test drive, very comfy, nice drive.
TERRIBLE vision with the angle of the A-Pillar, found it quite scary pulling out at some junctions actually.
Depending on how far back you have your seat etc then that will affect the visibility but for me was terrible. Was considering one for a company car, but can't do it because of the visibility.

I tried all the various accords in the last few weeks and they are very good at what they do.
As said the 2.0 is a little unresponsive but not at all bad considering the hefty nature of the car. The 2.2 turbo diesel is a great engine if you can cope with driving an oil burner but I suspect if moving over from a S2kip then the 4k odd rev limit is going to be soooooo hard to get used to.
The 2.4 is a really nice engine with lots of smooth power but don't be expecting any VTEC excitement as you wont get it.
I didn't try the slush box as like the diesel it's just not my bag and I personally wasn't too taken with the exec spec either. True you get alot of toys for the extra money but after you've played with all the bits on the touch screen and the novelty has worn off you're left with some squidgey and slidey leather seats and an AWFUL lot of rather nasty palstic wood. Fine if you want a car for the older gent but again, along way from the feel of your S.
In the end I opted for the Type S tourer and I absolutely love it. Very very comfy with all the luxuries I need and a stonkingly huge boot (with a rather fancy, if a little pointless remote tailgate) for all my work gear.

I wouldn't sell the S coz you have 2 days of commute a week, which are shite this time of year, but come spring it will be the best way to unwind after a hard day at the office. There are still 5 other days to enjoy it.
Get a cheap motorway runner, an old Accord would do the job, or a V6 Omega, they are sooooo cheap and v comfy..................
