Threaded wheel stud!
So my new brake discs arrived today (to replace ny warped discs) so went to chuck them on the car tonight ahead of a wee road trip at the weekend.
Faced a few problems...
When I took the nuts off one of them had some of the thread stripped inside it! Cracked on with the job anyway...
Then had to deal with th bl00dy locating screws on the old discs!Got them off passenger side with a bit of gentle persuasion and got the disc off to then realise that the pads I was told were fresh are shagged! Popped it back together to crack on with swapping the other disc so it just left the pads to pop in once I get some ordered. The locator screws on that side didn't move easily and was getting a little late for being noisy in the garage so called it a night.
Kind of hoped the stripped wheel stud/nut would tighten but no such luck.A good nut wouldnt go on so may try and clean it up with a dye and obviously need a replacement nut.
Did a search and if I cant clean up the thread thread then to replace the stud I need to get a replacement bearing etc? Is that right? If that's the case will pop it in to the garage I used for the odd bit on the Westfield to get it pressed out/in etc.
Cheers,
Dave

I had the same issue which was easily fixed with a thread file. It's a square file with with different thread pitch teeth on it. It cuts a new thread onto the stud. Send Joeh a pm for more info as he sorted mine out
On the subject of Pads...What do you guys recommend?
Did a search and fro track driving the DS2500 seems favourite? Thing is, for the sprints I need something that works straight away. How are these for initial bite? Sure they'll be fine. Standard pads are certainly no use to me as will cook them on track days and could probably manage to do it on the longer sprints as well
What thread size are the studs for cleaning up with dye/thread file?
Cheers,
Dave
