Default That time of year again..

So its that awful time of year again, where your cars windscreen is fogged up completely and you can't just jump in and drive off!

So my question is, what do people do to combat this? In mine it isnt just the usual light mist which is cleared by the AC in about 20 seconds, but nasty thick condensation that takes an absolute age to clear and makes it impossible to drive till it has.

Is there something which people put on their screens to stop this? (I have the hardtop on btw!)

Sounds like you need to dry out the car.

Leave it running with the AC on, warm for ages.

or get a dehumidifier and dry the car out

Was the softtop completely dry when you fitted the hardtop?

I wonder if you have had a new windscreen fitted? I know since having mine done it mists up really badly, much worse than the original and takes an age before i can see well enough to drive ... I am trying something right now that was suggested .. if it works i will get back to you.

Also, give the inside of the windows a good clean.

Often a film of grime gradually grows and condensation loves to "stick" to it.

You might have water stored away in your soft top drains.. I had a couple lakes in mine a few weeks ago that didn't seem to want to drain.. I dried them out with a towel as it was getting dark and i wasn't able to unblock the drains... Its been ok since (still haven't had a chance to unblock them properly) although its not rained as heavily as previous weeks...

It was really bad before that though, i literally had droplets on the windscreen inside the car with a thick condensation all over... took a few mins for the AC to clear it and I helped it along with a cloth..

You probably have moisture in the car somewhere.. it happened a couple times in my previous car when the interior was wet/moist from cleaning but once it dried up it was ok.. must be some water in your car somewhere (check the boot too)

Check under your boot carpet for signs of water...you may have a leaking rain rail or water getting in from somewhere else

Mine's been the same.

I dried the entire car (and boot as loads of condensation appears there), 303'd the roof and greased the seals and it seems a bit better.

I still need a cloth to wipe up excess though.

I have found that leaving the door open at the end of a drive to let the heat out of the car means water vapour due to the warmth is allowed to clear and its reduces condensation.

Mine was horrid for ages as I left the windo open for 4 days when there was bad rain all weekend 2 weeks ago. When I got in the car on the Tuesday morning the seat was rock hard from where it had froze !
