No, leave the chain alone mate, They should normally last the life of the engine and it's mega rare to have any problems with them. There are guys in the states with 2-300K engines on the original chain.

Strange, I've heard of only one failing from Billman and that one was replaced immediately.

Again, very strange and entirely different from my experience. The indifference might be a result of being a one person business but I have always had very prompt and easy dealings with Billman. Maybe it's a culture difference? After all, he's a New Yorker and they can be a bit "abrupt".

^ Don't get me wrong, he was very polite in his PM. Just stated he wasn't exporting. That's all.

Id highly recommend just repairing original yourself. The part that fails is the worm drive, basically a tubular piece with spines on it which lives inside the plunger which push's the chain. The spines become worn, and all they need are sharpening up again with sandpaper or a dremmel. Im a complete novice and, and taking it out and doing it yourself is a doddle.

All you need is a 15p bolt and a wing nut

Trust me its really easy, and it works a treat

With regards to the Ballade TCT, Billman (who knows more than me) has said that he thinks it is a possibility that they are over tensioning the chain over time having said that if I needed a TCT Iwould definatley get a Ballade one.

Just fitted my ballads TCT, I ordered it Monday and it turned up Friday. And no custom charges.

Quiet, so quiet now.

I needed the ballade as I have high lift cams which put a lot of strain on the std tct
