Default tinitus ?

After a long motorway drive with the roof down last night my ears were ringing.

I think that continuous exposure could lead to hearing damage, has anyone heard anything about this subject ?

should honda and other companies alert drivers to any risk ?

I've not heard of anything...

What you need are a set of these...

Seriously though, I used to drive up to 250miles a day with the hood down and never experienced this. Admittedly my hearing does seem to have suffered a little, but not sure this is the cars fault or not!

Imagine it was probably wind noise rather than engine noise.
You can get some ear plugs that bikers use for about 25p.
I only used them a couple of times on the bike as I found I was doing around 130mph rather than 90mph as I compensated for different sound level

edit: or alternatively just put the windows up

thats a bit like saying honda should warn you that if you sit in your car for too long with the stero turn up full it might damage your hearing. or if you go to fast for a corner you might crash.

Buy a car with a roof if you're worried

Ubless you have a particularly loud exhaust or induction set up I can't see how you'd get sore ears

Maybe you are especially susceptible to it, or are suffering from some other condition at the moment?

It's a big problem for bikers. Most bikers don't realise that they've been slowly damaging their ears until it's too late and they end up with reduced hearing or even worse permanent tinnitus.

I wear ear plugs on the bike every time I ride, no exceptions. I've been considering doing the same in the S2000 but I've resorted to doing the motorway runs with the roof up instead. That way I can hear the stereo and hear myself think.

stuartL

so i am not the only one !

i myself have excellent hearing.

As im 26 i want to preserve my hearing for my later years so that i am not deaf like the some of the dinosaurs on this board !

I do think that there should be a note in the owners manual; suggesting that prolonged long motorway driving may result in hearing damage and hence should be done with the roof up !

bit of a piss on the fire i know !
