Default Tips on removing the fuel pump

So I'm going to replace the fuelpump soon with a walbro one. I have the honda workshop manual, if anyone has any tips to share about the whole process it would be most appreciated.

Search is down at the moment.

How long can i bank on it taking?

How much do i need to cut off the existing pipe to the fuel pump? what tools do i need apart from a screwdriver?

Also could aI split it into 2 hours a day? and is it worth getting a new fuel pump gasket and sock (fuel filter)? - i have no idea the what the condition of the existing sock is - its never been changed in lifetime I've had the car.

Thanks

Allow 4 hours.

Get your fuel level low - really low.

Open the fuel cap and release pressure.

Remove all the stuff from the boot to get to the tank (on the left)

Remove the rear tray (fiddly and you will break clips no doubt)

Unplug the fuel pump, crank the engine a few times to get rid of fuel in the lines.

With a big cloth / rag, pull off the fuel hoses (they will leak a lot of fuel)

Undo the bolts on the top of the tank, - this will release the retaining ring.

Then unbolt the tank lid - be very careful not to drop anything down onto the tank.

You can now remove the pump assembly - very carefully and watch not to bend the fuel sender arm.

It's a bugger to get out and you will have to try a few angles. The fuel hoses will get in your way too.

The pump will also have a lot of fuel left in it, which will spill everywhere

Carefully disassemble the pump and fit your new one. Hose cutting you will work out at the time.

I would change the sock, but it is bigger and trickier to fit in, so if your old one is clean I wouldn't worry. It might have been done on a service anyway.

And now just put it all back in

I found getting the rear chelf back in quite hard.

Also, start the car before you put all the tray / boot stuff back in, and check for leaks on the hoses.

Car will take a few cranks to fire up.

I'd pay £100 in a heartbeat over DIY.
