Through a little bit of reading on the forum and 25 minutes of effort with basic tools I've cut my Throttle Position Sensor repair bill from

You sure it was bust Kenny? You can stick a multimeter on it and test its range... Sounds as though you cracked it though!

That thought had occured to me so I'll clean it up and test it all. Do you know or know where I can find out what the voltage range should be at closed, fully open, half open, etc? Even if it is bust I'll ebay it/offer it hear as someone might have some use for it Just happy to have the car driving properly again with no CEL. Given that I've been driving the feestie beater for the last 2 weeks the S2000 felt monster quick today I just know I'm going to regret selling it

Its 0-5 V closed to open, and should be linear.

When on the car its about 0.5V to 4.5V plus or minus 0.2V

It will need power to it to give out a voltage though. Cant remember if you can test it with no connection - wil dig through some of my info. JB will know - you could ask him.

It's just a variable resistor or potentiometer. Not sure what the resistance range is though. I guess it should be pretty close to open circuit at closed. 2.4 ohms at open?

Drove the car to work this morning:

Freezing cold start - alive at the first turn
Freezing cold low speed - 100%
Semi warm low/medium speed - 100%
Warm normal speed - 100%
Warm vtec - 100%
Warm giving it death - 100%
Warm in traffic - 100%
Grin Factor - 100%

Encouraging The car is also pulling clean and very hard. Seriously, seriously quick today

It was so much fun having the car today. Having hardly driven it for 2 weeks I had convinced myself that chopping it in for an STI-5 would be no hardship and that the STI would fill its boots. I really don't believe that - the STI will be a good compromise but it's no S2000. Faster and more manic yes, but I really question if there are many cars that make you feel the way the S2000 does. It's the small things like driving round a massive roundabout that goes under the M9 motorway. I have the roof down and the noise of the T1R is screaming back at me from the tunnel walls, the car is pulling hard, the back end it twitching and starting to break free and I'm wrapped up in a lovely snug cockpit with everything to hand. It all adds up to a feeling of 'specialness' that I've not had from any other car my Impreza included. Everything about it works and feels like it was designed to create the same experience. You can't say that of a scooby as it started life as a 4-door family+dog lugger.

So yeah, an STI will be fun and not without its merits but I fear I'm going to miss the S2000 a lot
