Default Track day

Don't know if this is in the right part.

After Saturday I am getting the bug to do a track day and might try to get on the one at Oulton on the 24th, just wondering what the other trackers on here do for insurance as I can't see the RAC being too cooperative?

Cheers

Matthew

In my view...

depends on track, depends on you more importantly.

Could you afford to put right any damage should anything happen?

When I tracked my VX220 at Bedford, Brands and Silverstone I didn't.

But if I track my S, then I will be using trackday insurance.

For Oulton as a first timer... I would deffo insure it.

Many don't bother.

The only 2 places I know of are:

http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk

AFAIK PJL has a policy with them covering road and track and he got a good deal

Cheers!

My brother just rang his insurance company today and they have covered him for free but just upped his excess on his Lotus!!

Can't see the RAC doing the same!

Go do Bedford if you're a newbie. A bit more of a trek I know, but it's a lot safer than a real track like Oulton and it's not as Mickey Mouse as an airfield.

I took the risk and never bothered on my first track day at Castle Coombe. I had no intention of trying to "prove" anything to anyone, but it's easy to get caught up in the occasion. It would have been a very different story had I hit a tyre wall etc.

Your call.
