Unhappy Trackdays?

Went to Bedford Autodrome on Saturday with some buddies and ended up having a great laugh.

In the morning, a friend and i went out to do a sighting lap of the full GT circuit and the car ran/ handled faultlessly. As the pace got faster (and after the sighting laps) i managed to control a few slides (looked pretty cool according to my friend who was following!).

Anyway, after a few laps to warm the tyres through, i started to push into the corners and find the limit of grip on the exits. This was great fun until i was running with another S2000 (anyone from here? V-Reg Silverstone car) and coming out of the left-hander at the start of the back straight, i span...

...gutted!

Didn't you know that Silverstone is the fastest colour ?

Well, mine's a black one & I've not noticed the same problem! Mind you, the turns are fairly tight on my local course, not long sweeping LHers

It does sound like oil surge, but it could equally be a bad connection on the solenoid, or something. One is pulling a good G or so on a dry track.

Too much oil is often worse than not enough oil reading through your comments.

It is easy to put too much in, but only someone who doesn't care about their car would let it run low.

When you say it wouldnt go into VTEC, did it just cut or was it just very flat in terms of power?

VTEC engagement is dependant on a number of things, oil pressure is an obvious one, and too high a level would potentially cause an issue.

Given it *seems* to be a heat thing, I would bet on the MAP or your oil level.

Suggest you drain off some oil, can be bad running that high.

i suspect that the high oil level is a bit of a red herring. 2mm over the full mark has not caused me any problems on the track. I always overfill slightly on the track to help combat oil surge and in my opinion it does no harm.

sounds more like a bad map sensor connection or similar. going to be difficult to diagnose whether you've fixed the problem if you don't get it on the road though.

I'm sure their are quite a few people on here who have used Bedford. Has anyone else had any problems at this particular circuit?

Was there a slow section before said left handers?

Still dont think its wise to go over the high - its there for a reason and will take into account any expansion etc. Trouble is with high level, you probably wont notice it being a problem - it will be the longer term effects you need to worry about.
