Tracking Systems
Intriguing to see all these comments on the differences between different systems.
I didn't get any discount from my insurance company for fitting a Concept 600 and Navtrack Guardian, but I'm glad I've got both. If the car is stolen there is no way the insurance company will pay me the value of a brand new one, so I feel happier with that level of security.
The navtrack was tested once when Jude started the car and didn't know how to work it properly. About six minutes later I got a call asking If I knew where my car was.
Next year I hope to get some better quality insurance that will give me a discount for the systems that I have installed.

My 2-pennyworth
Tracker works. When my S2000 was low-loaded to Norwich to refit the wheel spats I had a call on my mobile 5 minutes after they left 'Can you see your car at the moment Mr Cole?'. I was well impressed.
The Honda CAT1 alarm has it's critics. Problem is, it only has 2 buttons. My local VERY GOOD dealer has a mech, who has much experience trying to get it to work properly in his girl-friends CVT. The same device is supplied by (I can't remember the name) and Honda badged for all Hondas including the S2000. The boot-open function is very problematic and despite two PCB swop-outs and much intelligent work he cannot make it function reliably. The chosen device is a 2 button fob so any extra function has to be programmed. There is a relay to fit (cost

So, CAT1 is the UK Honda fit after the car comes in and the CAT2 is the system put into the car in Japan when it's made?
Is the CAT2 disconnected when the CAT1 is fitted here?
What's the difference between the two? Is the CAT1 just the original CAT2 with some added noise and motion sensors?

The CAT 2 is the immobliser that runs using the ECU, and the little transponder in the keys. The only sensor on the CAT 2 is the one that checks that the key is coded for the car.
The CAT 1 is a seperate alarm system, that still leaves the CAT 2 active.
