IMHO, the VX220 is definitely less beautiful than the Elise - espacially the current, facelifted Elise.
This is especially true of the rear of the car.
I have seen a black VX220 and blue Elise parked side-by-side several times at work so have been able to make a fair comparison.
VX220 looks quite impressive in photos but I have found it to be far less so on the road. Still quite a nice car, though.
