Default Twitchy in the rain

Driving to the station at 5:30am this morning, along the A30, doing a steady speed no accelerating, braking or steering input, I hit a couple of patches of water (not deep but enough so you'd see it) and I felt the car squirm underneath me. It didn't change direction or anything, more of a sort of shimmy, as I went through the wet patch. I don't drive the S too much in the wet and I've never experienced anything similar in any other car or in the S until this morning.

Other than slow down is there anything I should do?

Sounds about normal to me FistralG...if you're tread depths are low, this would only make it worse. Your choice of tyre will make a difference too.

My old MX5 was awful in the wet, it loved to aquaplane, the S is alot more stable IME.

Definitely agree with loftust and I find that anything less than 3mm of tread depth and its time to replace them as I get exactly what you are describing.

Check your tyres, geometry etc.

I had just fitted semi slicks and it decided it to open the heavens about 10 mins after when i ws doing 70 on the motorway. Slowed to 60 mph and car was still fine.

light car + wide tyres = prone to aquaplaning
solution : tyre dept at least 5 mm + VSA
and most important be careful

My rear passenger side tyre is pretty much completely bald now. Driving to Arran in the torrential rain on Friday was interesting. Some nice sideways action on the motorway at one point.

Think if there's surface water deeper than the depth of the tread, then you can start to have problems.

VSA wont save you from aquaplaning, trust me i've had sphincter clencher at 100 more leptons than the OP, with VSA enabled and it didnt even realise the car was floating.
