Type-V
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and wanted some information about the possibility, if any, of importing a Type-V. I was just about to order a standard S2000 but stumbled across some vague Japenese information on this beast.
Sorry its a bit vague but any information appreicated. Nice forum by the way!

This is my problem as got a quote on an S2000 and they asked me the exact same thing so I quizzed them and all they could tell me was that it was an import model. I did some digging around and there's loads of Jap info on it but my Japanese is a bit rusty! Pics of it look lovely though, maybe its just a Jap kit but thought I'd ask before I buy a standard one.
Cheers

HONDA S2000 type-V
Honda announced on July 14 that they introduce the S2000 with the newly developed VGS (variable gear ratio steering) for the Japanese market. The high steering gear ratio realizes sharp movement. However it was hard to maintain the stability when changing lanes. The VGS, based on the rack and pinion type steering, improve both stability and sporty handling by electrically controlling the gear ratio responding to speed and driving conditions. The body weight of the VGS equipped models is 20kg heavier.

Type V is for variable steering, I believe. The faster you go, the less responsive the steering (easier for driving on the M-Ways). Not aware of any performance enhancement (although Jap ECUs in general are configured differently, which affects performance), but not available as regular import in UK or EU, therefore insurer would know for definite that it is a Jap *grey*
Cheers mate, strange how they would charge me more insurance for just modified steering? Still, never been into insurance so god knows how it works!
Thanks again, think I'll go for the standard one.

I guess if it's rare it just makes insurance companies worry about spares and repair, especially on an import, and it's not as if they are going to do any investigation into the merits of a noraml S2000 v's a Type-V are they
