Latest update...........

Bridgestone are also insisting it is the correct tyre to NWHL.

Had a long discussion with Nick, who checked the new S2K in their showroom. That has the usual (Potenza 92W) tyre.

Glad to know Bridgestone know their own business

Photos will be exchanged Monday!

EDIT:

Sod Monday, here's the evidence. This might be important if you've mismatched tyres:

Trebor,

I should measure your widths - I would be concerned you may have different tyres across the back!

They appear to have far wider water channels that the ES02JZ.. combined with the 225 width, they must have significantly < contact patch. IIRC, the Pole Positions had similar tread pattern - but obv. had Pole Position on the side too - unlike yours

I am also interested in the outcome of this. I had a blow out and had one tyre replaced by Honda. This looks like your Nick, and different to the other three. I never noticed as it happened the day before I went on holiday and I had forgotten about it until now.

Right I have had enough of this tyre malarki. So I have just been out and checked everything out. Both my tyres are the same width, which is about 265mm from the ridge on each side of the tyre wall (I know this is not how tyres are actually measured but the ridge allows me to be accurate).

However the tyre markings are completely different. My old tyres say:

Bridgestone Potenza S02

ES02JZ 225/50R116 92W
Max load 630kg

My New tyre says:

Bridgestone S02
Treadwear 140 Traction A Temp A Max load 630kg
DOT EJ 8J 225/50 ZR16 S02 JZ

Yet they are both the same size? wtf's going on?

anyone?

1. Right

2. Not right.

The carcass width is about 265mm at the bottom of the tyre.

Sorry to be a Pain in the Arse, but would you mind please measuring the tread widths? That's about 1/2 way into the rounded shoulder on each tread. (see pic)

Tyre 1 should have a tread like Baby Spice's platform trainers, whilst tyre 2 should be 225mm like it says on the tin.

I know it's pissing down, but I would like to be vindicated on what I believe might be a dangerous situation.

New tyre: aound

Bridgestone Potenza SO2 ES02JZ 225/50R16 92w. That was what my original tyres were and that is what my new tyres are. TBW, hope this sorts out the confusion. The above are definately the right tyres.

JIT - before I change!

My rears are originals as del'd with the new car
Among all the other guff it reads
ES02 JZ 225/50R16 92W

Interestingly the little yellow card from Honda the dealer stuffed in the car says
225/50/R16 Bridgestone Potenza S02 JZ 92W
