Default Tyre width question

Is it better to have 215/45R17 or 225/45R17 front tyres on OEM wheels? I'm going to buy AD08s for track day use. How about the rears; 245 or 255? I think that I'm going to buy 245 rears as the 255s are much more expensive.

Does the wider front tyres affect the steering feel?

Cheers!

Edit: Should I have put this to tyre thread? Anyway, I just asked another question there.

I'd rather use a standard tyre on a wider rim! Only 1/2", I don't want the dreaded Euro-look!

IME, using a wider tyre on a standard rim reults in soggy sidewall feel & horrible steering.

AD08s are slightly softer than Bridgestones, so they're soft enough.

TBH they have such fantastic grip, you won't need to go bigger. Also, they wear quickly, so if you disagree & want to try 255 rear (the only increase you might need) then you won't be peeved with me for too many months!

You'll get that anyway on AD08s, in my experience. 225s are just going to make it worse.

Hmm I've got 225 ad08s (215s were out of stock) and don't think they're that bad.

Will either get 255s on the back to match next time or get some 215s on the front

I ran 225 front and 245 rear although my fronts were 7.5" over the 7" standard. Those were falken fk452s, but I had come from R888s in the summer so I can't really give a useful opinion other than it was fine. I'd like to run 245s all round TBH.

I heard the AD08's have a fairly stiff sidewall compared to most tyres on the market.

Bridgestones are like runflats minus the crap ride!

AD08s are generally considered firmer than most and I get away with it (just) on the NSX because they have little to do at the front. They are very sticky, however. Even in the wet and cold, once warmed up.

I would have got BS, had they still been available, I think. But the AD08s are very good, nonetheless.

Can't be any worse than my continental sport 3s :-) They have soft sidewalls!

I never remember what Bridgestones replaced the MZ's. I guess they won't have the ultimate grip levels of the Ad08s though.
