Default Tyres + track days

Hey....

I have my first day on a track coming up soon - a driving experience, tuition in the S so im going to be killing off my tyres.

The car is a 99V jap import with the original make of tyres potenza S02's standard alloys

Can anyone recommend replacements please - to be honest the tyres provide little grip in the wet so im looking for improvement.

Also any tips for the car before taking it on the track?? Im a NOOB

Thanks in advance.

Plenty of threads on here.

Choices would be RE050A, Toyos, maybe Dunlop sportmaxx, can't remember if Goodyear do the Eagles in the correct fitment for 16's ?

If you want tyres just for the track day... I just tried to buy some Yokohama A048s to fit OEM 16" wheels. Rears are available but fronts won't be until the spring, I was told by two sources. So I bought Toyo R888s, which the motorsport chap at the supplier reckoned might be better in December, when it will be cold... though the fact that they are available is quite an important recommendation itself! I'll see how they go at Donington in December.

Remember R rated tyres aren't worthwhile for your first track day, especially if it's in december.

R888 and A048R are basically competing tyres from Toyo and Yokohama respectively.
