UK Forum Changes
UK Forum Changes
The CO's and moderating team and myself on S2KI do what we do in our own time and on a voluntary basis. We know that most people really appreciate what we do, but sometimes unfortunately we don't get the time we'd really like/need on here. To this end we have discussed making some changes to the UK forums on S2KI. These have been agreed with the site owners and other Admins.
1. The UK forums will be slightly re-organised, and specific sub forums created, not a huge change, but as you arrive at the UK section it would appear as a list of Sub forums as follows:
UK S2000 Talk (The current main forum - but as a sub forum)
UK Meets & Events
UK For Sale & Wanted
UK Traders
UK Car Talk
UK Off Topic (or General Discussion - Serious off topic - I hope this will make it searchable again too)
UK Muppets (for the stupid stuff)
2. Some additional UK Moderators of various 'S2KI Age' will be appointed with specific forum responsibilities - i.e. not all mods covering all forums, this should lighten the load and make the time requirement less for all.
The Moderator's and Community Organiser's roles are to lead and manage the forums, be welcoming and make interactions on the site enjoyable for all.
3. Also additional CO's will be added, with specific responsibilities for co-ordinating events and meets. They will also interface with the Club.
4. During the discussions between the current CO's and I, we have also agreed some changes we are going to make in our own style of posting and moderating the community;
I've had feedback from people who have been put off posting, either since being a regular poster, discovering the forum for the first time or just being someone browsing the forum occasionally. Suggestions such as sometimes there is some bad feeling, that people can be intolerant and jump down your virtual throat, almost unhelpful in a place they come for help.
I didn't notice this when I spent so much time here, I think we become immune to it, but sitting back and looking I can see it. Many of us here are quite long in the tooth, been here a while and get used to the status quo.
As moderators, we are going to take the lead in making the forum a fun place to be, an interesting place, and a friendly place, with a community atmosphere, we have agreed that we should be:
Friendly & welcoming
Patient & tolerant
Helpful & respectful
Considered & consistent
The way we moderate should help this. We have agreed to try and avoid locking or dumping threads, but to help people when they post something in the wrong area, or don't follow the 'rules'.
We aim to ensure that when we lock or dump a thread, that a polite PM goes to the OP explaining why and helping them understand, especially if they are new and I think that it should be recorded in the thread that this has been done.
The changes will be made over the coming weeks, and we hope it will help in ensuring S2KI (UK) remains a fantastic resource for S2000 owners and enthusiasts.

Pity that there won't be a 'Sad Feckers' forum though

Nice to see as one of the newbies
