Upper limit on octane rating for engine?
In advance of my European trip I've bought a couple of bottles of STP Power Booster which claims to improve economy and performance whilst giving my engine innards a bit of a clean. It contains Kerosene and is an octane booster. I'm supposed to empty one bottle (250ml) into each tankful of 50 - 60 litres. It doesn't mention how much octane it's supposed to increase your tankful by, nor does the STP website mention anything like this on their FAQ and tech pages.
My question is, can you have too much of a good thing? Is there an upper limit of octane rating the engine can handle?

Big Ted, suggest you talk to the guys in the ' a question of power' thread, on this page. Loads of good stuff on knocking, octane, ignition retardation.. lacks jokes though
