Default Using a lot of oil

Hi,
finding myself putting in around a litre of Shell Helix 5W-40 every three weeks or so, or approx every 1000 miles , considering I drive the car 'enthusiastically' does this seem appropriate, or is it so much oil as to warrant a concern?

Thanks for any help/opinions

Quite normal, however disturbing it seems. I found 5/40 like water - I'd go for 10/30 where possible, especially in this weather. Opie do Amsoil at great prices.

I was using 1litre per 1700 miles, but now i'm on the Silkolene Pro-S, not any in the last 700 miles (21mpg avg).

My advice is to get your oil changed for some fresh stuff (try 10-40 magnatec) and see how you get on

*EDIT*

Bring your oil/filter and i'll bring my 17mm spanner/socket and drain can and i'll do it at the Wigan meet!

How very

I will do just that ... if I remember to buy a filter (has to be a honda one I believe?) and some magnatec (5 litre container will be necessary for this I guess?), I may take you up on that thanks.
