As far as I know you can't VTEC when cold, it doesn't allow it, needs water temp amongst other things to meet certain criteria before allowing it to engage

Not sure the previous owner ever hit VTEC. He thanked me for not redlining the car on the test drive! When I sold my AP1 I had to beg people to hit VTEC so they could see why they wanted the car...

I needed to turn my car round on my drive last night, so went for a 11.5 mile detour so I could VTEC.

I love Man Math justified scenic routes as well. I mean sure I could take the direct route but that's going to be full of people doing an average of what, 17mph? This route is twice the distance but I can average 40mph so it's really 15% quicker.
