Default weights on wheels ?

Just had 3 tyres changed (had the 4th changed a couple of weeks back but they only had one re050) have just noticed on the three that were changed there are no wheel weights on the inside of the wheels. My understanding is that they balance the wheels and thus apply the appropriate weights ? Is it just possible that all my wheels bar the 1 previously changed one (as it has weights on it) balance without weights ? Or do all wheels need balancing ?

All wheels need balancing. If there are no weights on the inside of the wheel rim they haven't balanced them.

You are looking at the inside of the alloy for stick on weights aren't you?

Yep no weights stuck on the inside of the alloy. Is it feasible that that dont need weights on them ? Worth mentioning they have charged me for balancing.

Its possible, but very unlikely.

Is there any vibration though the steering wheel or your backside when driving at speed?

If you're worried take the car back to where you got the tyres fitted and get them to check the wheel balance. It doesn't take long and if they've charged you for it they should be happy to proove that they did the work in the first place.

highly unlikey to get away without needing weights. Go back and ask.

Yep it would be almost impossible.

The wheels are cast from manufacture, then weights added to get a final balance.

So the chances of a wheel now not needing them are slim.

You will find out once you hit between 60 and 80 though

Go careful...

I have seen some wheels balanced on the 'lip' of the rim with the old style weights, placed on the inside.
