Default 303, Raggtopp, or other protector?

Think that says it all. I've read a couple of posts on here that say Raggtopp is easier to use, but it's twice the price of 303.

...so is it worth the extra, and is there any other product worth considering?

...by the way, I am after both waterproofing AND colour protection.

Thanks all,

M.

How do you waterproof vinyl, it's impervious to water anyway?

I haven't used Ragtop but 303 seems to do the job. Very good on interior plastics too.

hmm then why do companys make products for vinyl ?? I have used one in the past and it does make a difference, you get the water beading on the top instead of going into the vinyl.

You pay your money .......

I guess

Cleans, makes it blacker and the water beads.
They also say it is a UV protector - plastics and UV usually don't mix.

So for the look and protection I guess

I don't see how water can go into the vinyl

Water soaks between the fibre. My roof just looks wet when it rains, I am hopeing 303 will let it bead like the paint?

The water can't soak in as it not a woven fabric AFAIK. It's just made to look that way.

The water seems to soak in as the surface texture and the dirt it traps holds the water. It means the roof takes ages to dry off.

You need to first clean the roof with a cleaner like Ragg Topp vinyl cleaner and then protect with the protector of your choice. I personally use Ragg Topp.

303 is good but some folks say if you put too much on it tends to run off when it rains. I actually think the same is true of Ragg Topp.

Some people use Autoglym Bumper Care and get good results.

If your hood is well past it's best and discolouration has set in then Renovo make a good cleaner and restorer for vinyl which will put some supple-ness back into the plastic. The restorer is a bit paint like though so I'd only use it if the hood is past help from a protector.

303

I've used AG rubber and vinyl care too which is good but 303 has the edge for longevity. 303 also makes the engine bay look mighty fine too!

I use Raggtopp, very lightly.

Looks dreadful at first, but it's the only thing I've tried that dries matt.

The main reason for a dressing coat is UV & birdshit protection, not water protection. I think that's what the roof's for, but I hardly use it.
