Default what would you do?

s2000 due to arrive at dealers in last week in january.

now i can almost guarantee that the weather will be carp through february, all i will be doing is driving to/from work early in the morning and late in the evening and as i live in the country the roads will be 'orrible and mucky for a month or two. i'm not selling my current car (which has the limited reassurance of 4wd) so a trade in isn't going to affect the decision.

so,would you ask the dealer to hang on to it and pick it up in march with the 05 plate or get hold of it at the earliest opportunity? do the new plates have much significance in terms of value these days?

If your not going to be driving it, then I would wait.

It will be all the better when you do get it after the wait.

If you think you'll be using it at the weekends then I would get it asap - you'll be kicking yourself if you get a lovely crisp, dry winter/spring day but can't get the roof down.

If you leave it, does that mean it will be hanging around the dealers for 2.5 months? I would have thought they'd want your money and the space, and wouldn't want the hassle of having a car sitting in a pound for that length of time. Not great for the car either.

Tough choice.

I delayed delivery of my car for a month. As it turned out the warmest April on record. I was kicking myself, but in reality I would not have been able to get out for more than a day or so because of work.

You do run the risk of discovering the infamous slippy rear end in poor conditions.

why are you even thinking about not getting it, if you have enough space at your home no problem if you have no space make it fast.

buy a cover for when your not using the car, if its left outside then at least the crap will stay off it and enjoy the weekends and the roof down. its a chore washing it but you'll get such a buzz from the driving you'll not care.
