Default Whats wrong with this S2000

Hey folks,

I'm looking to make a come-back after less than a year out of an S2000; I've been razzing around in a Clio 172 - which in fairness has been superb fun, but the S2000 is where my desire lies.

So whilst looking for a potential condidate, I found the following... which I saw months ago while taking a sneaky peaky at S2000's: Autotrader.co.uk Link

What's wrong with it??

Do you think its just cos of the mileage? It's blatantly just sat on the motorway for a large proportion of its life which does no harm to any of the car, provided engine servicing is on time and the front bumper is resprayed once a quarter ;-)

There are a few owners on here with 130k on their cars... as a percentage, 38k isn't horrifically more? (Subject to opinion I guess!)

I do 500 miles a week in my little Frenchy, and it puts next to no wear & tear on it, and would continue to do so in the S2000. Should I buy it, and target to be the first 200k owner......!

PS: Hey MSC, liking the addition of your facelift spoiler - looks cool!!

Can you afford to buy this and have engine change cash on stand-by?

It looks lovely - but that's high mileage for any ten year old engine, any petrol engine, any VTEC engine - I think I'd be tempted at a fair bit less than the asking, but I'd need to know that I'd meet engine failure in two weeks with the same levelheadedness as another 30k of glorious motoring..

tbh that car looks mint, Even the cam cover still has original paint work normally these flack to death, Id do a reg check on it if serious,
If possible do a compression test, Have a good test drive etc just be extra vigilant as it is a high millage but still looks a solid car.

It's in Bristol, you need to check the VIN numbers on all the panels in case it made up of all the knock off bits.

Seriously though, make sure the 2 year warranty covers everything you want it to and get that in writing, knock the price dowm due to mileage and you could have a bargan.

Without seeing the car in the flesh it's very hard to judge.

For such a high miler I would expect more interior trim wear, especially on those seats and carpets. They could have been replaced, but worth a look.

I'd budget for worst case scenarios with this one. Replacement engine/engine work, worn out roof and seized bushes all round.

That said, you can never tell until you go have a look and it could be perfect with lots of miles on the clock
