After returning from the Virgina Waters Meet last night I heard a rattle only when the engine was blipped.

but when running around Basingstoke was OK, but stop the car give it a blip and the rattle returns.

So I've just returned from Yeamans Honda in Farnham and the guys there had it on the lift and think that the rattle is coming from the CAT Shield, cost of replacement is

I get that rattle on start up, sure it could be stopped with out a new one. Haven't looked though.

I'll have a go when I remove the test pipe.

Don't blip it, why do you?

Maxine was rolling on the floor but no Laughs

Would be easy to fit but when you see the state of the bolts, pretty sure they will break.

Will look for breakers Cheers

Just had the MoT do and the guy had another look at the rattle for the CAT.

He is off the opinion that it's the Heat Shield Only that is the cause & other than purchasing a new one he said it would be OK to remove the whole off the shield.

Job Done

I wouldn't recommend the removal of the heat shield. It gets very hot under there and to be honest its there for a reason The CAT is very close to the under of the body, in fact its probably less than an inch from the body. This means its less than 1 1/2 inch from you carpet in the drivers foot well. Your can see from the inside just in front of the drivers seat where the floor is raised, just below that is the exhaust. Without the heat sheild the heat will transfer directly into the floor pan making even hotter inside. I wouldn't risk it.
