Default Whoops

took the car out for a quick burn at the weekend..........came off a roundabout...in 1st and VTEC'd a nice lary powerslide....bit of opposite lock....9000rpms into 2nd bam.... I had just made the up change around 50 yards prior to a traffic cop (they were pulling cars for vehicle safety checks)

So there's me correcting a powerslide with between 1/4 and 1/2 a turn of lock, an illegal number plate....now bear in mind that I never exceeded the speed limit 'cause as soon as I saw the policeman I did a complete lift off

I gave an acknowledgement to the policeman expecting a pull but he just gave me 'that look' and off I trundled.......

It's restored my faith in the traffic cops as clearly I was in control, I was also aware of my surroundings as evident in my lift off...and I showed I realised that I was perhaps driving a little enthusisatically at that moment

question....was I lucky?

Flaming hell! You are mental. Went for a long blast yesterday - there were several moments where I was going to drop a cog and plant the throttle but a split second later I see a police car!

Lucky - YES!

Here's the definition of luck - being 0.22 mph off going to court - the traffic policeman who pulled me yesterday was very good about it and just gave me a fixed penalty. It was early on a Sunday morning but I was going significantly faster than the speed limit so it was a fair cop guv. Shame it was also my birthday though....

Amuse

This is my fave route that I do every weekend...never seen the cops there before so I was verrry surprised to see them

I'll be a little more circumspect at that part next time as I really don't need a tug at the moment

I'd not have had a leg to stand on as I seem to recall that 'sliding' a car is deemed in law to not be in control of the car??

Bloody hell, you were more than lucky - ANYTHING where you're tyres are slipping on the road is considered by the boys in blue to be not in full control of your vehicle, even if you're Jackie Stuart or Michael Schumacher.

Maybe they just listen to the press reports about S2000s being uncontrollable and think 'there goes another'

I can only think that the policeman missed the 'tail out action'.....I was convinced I was going to get pulled...not least for the illegal spacing on the number plate

I wonder how a powerslide that required between 1/4 to 1/2 of turn of lock actually looks like outside the car....

I did check when I got home how much that amount of lock moves the wheels from the centre line and it doesn't appear to be that much....leading me to believe that in the car it feels more dramatic than it is in reality

Good thing that the tyres didn't screech.

They probably were amazed and wished they could do the same
