I'm sure this is one of the reasons this car is responsible for the murder of so many unfortunate members of the insect species!!!!

IIRC it's to make the cabin seem roomier.

I think it's a bi-product of the engine being set so far back in the chassis..........if it wasn't so vertical you'd end up sitting in the boot!

The murder of insects is due to the following:

They are so attracted to "that beautiful car" that they have to fly towards it to see it and get a closer look.

The car is so fast that unfortunately they mis calculate and end up splatting against the front or screen.

Ian, is this why MCBs have more splats per square inch than other colours???

I read in Autocar years ago that when Honda developed the X-frame chassis they engineered in the ability to modify it for use in a RWD saloon, which has significantly more upright windscreen than a roadster normally has.

Might have something to do with meeting crash test regulations worldwide. Don't know anything about such regulations but that's my 2p. Must have something to do with drivers head in relation to the windscreen. A mate of mine has an MGF and the rake on that windscreen is something else especially alongside the S. Wouldn't like to be involved in an accident in one of those with the roof down.!!

IIRC it was for an aborted premium exec class car. Another technical detail I remember was a comment that the X frame chassis was particularly suited for extending track-wise.

It's a design feature to contrast and highlight the plunging bonnetline. Just call me Sergio!!
On the other hand, ergonomics may have been the driving force?
