Default Will this work/help.

Thought I'd get some feedback before I get the cutter out. I was thinking about a cold air feed without spending money on the muz snorkel, so.
If I cut a circular hole in the rad panel just in front of the airbox intake, from there feed a flexible (2" approx) hose down to the grill and attach hose to the grill with tywraps, thus cold air will flow from outside car up tube and the be sucked into airbox entry, will this help with Kangaroo- ing and generally aid cold air consumption?
Worth the effort?

IMO not really worth it. Good idea though.

Too many bends. I woudlnt use corrogated pipe either because of the rough surface.

You would need a big diameter piping to take advantage.

You would bring crap in from the front, salt, possilby water?.

I will be posting my effort which takes air in from oval at the side of the fender (inside engine) and feeds to the side of the airbox, with a snorkle which is gutted to remove restrictions where it passes under the bonnet.

It is then sealed when the bonnet closes (piping) and insulation bubble tape on the airbox and coolant pipe etc. With a snorkle you do bring a bit more crap in

I did mock one up but my pup wrecked it

Will do it this weekend, if i get rid of this man flu

it will work when on the move, but the worst kangaroo effect is when the cars been standing with the engine running (trafic lights etc). if you can seal the intake off from the engine bay using foam or rubber making the tube you install the only route for the engine to pull cold air in that will sort it.
dont bother using the 2" pipe you can get from most car shops its not big enough.

I made a vast improvement to my car last weekend which I am over the moon with.

I already had a snorkel but felt it was too restrictive with with air flow so I bought some plastic drainage pipe and some tinfoil and got busy.

It basically involves cutting a hole in the side of the airbox for a pipe to run into the fender and completely cover the entire thing in foil to reflect the heat.

I'll put some pics up on the weekend when I have time.

The car feels very good now. It seems to rev a bit quicker, smoother and somehow the HKS even sounds better.

I think if you go with Shopmans home made snorkel intake coupled with this, You will improve performance a great deal at a next to nothing cost.

Sorry about the pic as it is night time and I just took it but you cn see what is going on a bit clearer here.

I've jut tightened the throttle cable to try to erradicate the kangarooing issue. Would intake mods also help then? I don't mind getting my hand in my pocket if needs be. Whats the best option?

Hey Vadhert, I've covered the airbax and intake pipe to t/b with similar tape, water pipe adhesive lagging tape, will stick pics up tomorrow, mates laughed at me but I thought it can#t do any harm.
