Default Wind Buffeting

The S is my first roadster, so I can't really compare against anything, but there does seem to be alot of buffeting with the top down. (I've got a MY02 so I have the aeroscreen), do the MajorHavoc Headrest Wind Blockers as advertised on this site actaully work?

Franky

Had the top down constantly for the last few days....you forget how good it feels.

With the windows up (hate that..most Z3's do it) , heater on roof down setting, screen up and headrests installed I get no buffetting at all.

I'm not the tallest bloke in the world so that may make a difference.

The headrest inserts certainly make a big difference IMO

No idea about the wind blockers although I think there are several folks out there so sure you'll get some feedback.

I went for i) Ricks full height aeroscreen and ii) Ricks headrests. The combination of the two does a good job of cutting down buffeting. I'm 6'2" - 6'3" and so still get some wind coming over the top of the windscreen and onto my head but Aimee thinks that buffeting is reduced quite a bit. They also look great.......if not the cheapest way to cut buffeting.

Don't suffer from this - insensate.
But I understand from the board that the perfect answer consists of: blocker in the roll bar; blocker in the seat back; larger aeroscreen.... or a Chinese Army style hat

don't know about wind buffeting the in the cockpit but the car seems sensitive to cross winds, it was quite noticeable on the run down to the pub at the Surrey Mini-Meet

That would be from all the WW2 planes flying past you

I too get slight buffetting ,but i think that this is due to my height 6'2" and i find that it reminds me of how fast i am going and to it a bit.

put it this way Simmo I heard you before I saw you

I'd sure like to know why it makes that noise though, it wasn't a sucking noise but just reminded me of a Jap Zero Fighter

Neil - do you have a link for the Nicks items?

Is it possible to change the MY02 standard aeroscreen then?

I've got Major Havoc's Lexan inserts - I can't say that they've made a huge difference as it's still quite breezy for me (I'm 6-2) but any reduction is welcome. For the cost (something like $18) it's worth getting. I'm going to get one of Rick's full height aeroscreens on the same basis as anything has to be better than present.
