Wind deflectors
Hi everyone!.
Took possession of my new S2000 (silver & black 2001 model) back in November and haven't managed to wipe the grin off my face since!. Found this site on the net recently.......looks really good!.
Had a question that hopefully you may be able to help with.
I'm 6'3" and have noticed a fair amount of buffeting when the top is down, even with the standard deflector up. Not really a problem.........you don't by a soft top if you are worried about the elements!. However, I've seen many references to Rick's accessories in various threads. Took a look at the site and saw that you can get larger wind deflectors (either full size or 7/8th's). Has anyone got any experience with these (either size)?. I'm tempted to fork out some cash but wanted to get a feel for the difference they make to buffeting.
Appreciate any help you can give me and look forward to checking this site out in more detail!.
Neil

Welcome Neil:
Any S2000 owner not visiting this board is labouring under a huge disadvantage. There's a massive pool of shared owner experience on tap here!
Re the buffeting you experience... I'm pretty hardy about having the top down even in quite cold weather. I find that with the heater on dash and feet setting, and the blower turned up, you get a lovely flow of warm air just to where your hands rest on the steering wheel. I don't mind most of the buffeting, in fact I hate putting the side windows up as the car looks very Triumph Herald..ish!
A woolly hat pulled down over your ears is a must. What I do hate is that icy blast of cold air that still gets you right at the back of the head My car is a 2000 model and doesn't have the aero screen fitted, but it's generally agreed that the stock screen is too low to be much effective use. Two sponsors on this board, (U.S. )Rick and Mingster both sell replacement aeroscreens which are taller than stock. There have been some problems with them rattling at high speed although there are published fixes for the problem. Another possible solution is headrest pads which plug into and cover the existing open headrest. Those who've had any of the above fitted will no doubt be posting so keep an eye on this thread.

I have the 7/8 and I like it, it blocks out alot of the wind and looks better with the S2000 logo than the stock one. It takes a couple of hours to installall, but worth it. I'm only six feet tall, but I guess it should help you out also.
I have the standard Honda aeroscreen, as it was the only available at the time. I fitted it myself, which was quite easy. The worst bit was taking a drill to the plastic console cover. If you look underneath, you'll see where the holes go.
I find the screen quite effective, but it does need the roof cover on to work effectively. I still find that I get cold air round the outer shoulder (right for driver). I have a long back, so sit quite high (don't think about the position of my head relative the roll bars). I don't get buffeting, even above motorway speeds, but it gives me a stiff shoulder. Maybe this would be solved by the headrests, I haven't tried them.

I was thinking about doing this myself, but the missus wasn't keen, but being tall (6'2") I get a cold neck when on the motorway. Trouble is looking at all the mods Xviper has done, I am not sure I want to block both headrest and rollhoop. Still, might have a play soon.
