Default Windscreen washer and headlight washer

Hi all, I'm getting no motor activation whatsoever when I pull the stalk back for the windscreen washers. However the headlight washers work fine, so I was wondering if they use the same pump or not? If they use two separate pumps then I know one is probably broken. Also is pump failure common? Cheers!

Yup, 2 seperate pumps.

I have had to replace mine, I got the equivalent from Hellfrauds.

Thanks for that, am I right in saying the pump is in the footwell? Hopefully it is an easy enough job. Was the halfords pump reasonably priced?

No the pump is in the driver side wheel arch.
I found it easier to remove the wheel and arch liner, you should be able to do it by peeling back the arch liner.

Sounds easy enough to do, I take it just a couple of bolts and two wires? I'll keep an eye put for a new pump.

One on ebay, breaker part for £24.50, print the picture off and take it to halfords I think they were charging £6 or so. Dont try halfrauds web site the search is carp.

Thanks alot, take it that these motors are a pretty generic part then. Much appreciated. I'll report back with what happens... Hopefully I'll be lucky and find somebody in halfords who actually knows about cars.

Just jumping into this, noticed mine has started to only spray from one nozzle. I need to get out there with a pin/needle, and check the holes, but just thought I'd ask if the pumps usually go completely, or can start to fizzle out?

That may be the 'one way valve' (basically a tiny spring & ball bearing) going or getting clogged with crap.
I had exactly that problem, a new OEM valve is only a tenner, or you could just bypass it altogether with a pneumatic hose connector.
