Default Windscreen Washers

Hi all

Bit of advice please.

I topped up the windscreen washer reservoir couple of days ago after it became very low (not empty). I noticed today that the pressure from the jets on drivers side is now very low and there is no water coming out of the passenger side. The motor still activates when I pull the stalk.

I've checked the jets as best I can for any blockages but doesn't seem to be any.

Any ideas?

Maybe it's come loose from the washer bottle. I know the headlight pump is held in place with a bracket but I think the windscreen pump might just be held in by a bung. You should be able to get access through the wheel arch liner to check

There are little non return valve type things in the hose connection just before the jets (a small ball bearing with a spring). Mine went the same way as yours so got jazz jets, still no improvement. After taking everything apart I noticed one of the springs was broken so the ball inside would not spring back leaving the line permanently blocked by the ball. Managed to bodge it open for the mean time but will replace them when I find some new connectors.

Some types of screen wash can go a bit "gloopy" in hot weather especialy if the system is alowed to empty, trick is not to let it, one clue is the headlight washers (if you've got them) stop working before the windscreen ones, if you keep a bottle of water in the car you can both fill it a bit and give them a clean. Every S2000 owner should carry some water to flush off bird attacks!
If you pull the pipe off before the non return valve you can flush them out with clean water and a squeezy bottle. Cleaned mine like this last year when they got blocked you can squeeze a lot more water at pressure through.
Also on my to do list is fit Jazz washers, they give a spray instead of a jet.

Just my 2 pence worth

The jazz washers do not come colour coded ( at least when I bought them ) and even if you modify the original gasket from under the original washers to fit the jazz one's they still do not fit 100%

If your car is old, the pipes/NRV & stuff may be full of mildew and other stuff.

If they look black inside, rip the whole lot out & soak through on hot water.

You might have to run the pump with the reservoir filled with warm water a couple of times too, before it works properly.

I'm thinking about changing mine to jazz ones. Will the ill fitment cause any issues like leaks into the engine bay or does it just look a bit naff?

You have to re-use the rubber gasket from the original washers otherwise the jazz washers are a bit loose . The gasket needs a tiny bit of cutting to fit .

When the jazz washers are on nobody will notice they do not fit quite as well as the originals.

If you take into account they also need painting my opinion is keep the old one's

It may just be polish residue blocking the hole.
