Default Work Authorised

Great news today , Marshalls in Reading have got the go ahead for both my clutch replacement (that was agreed as soon as I said clutch noise) and a replacement rear screen (took a week for Honda to agree)
So just waiting to see how long it will take to get parts and then in she goes.
Cannot wait to get rid of the buzzing from the clutch it is beginning to p*ss me off

Anthony

Has anyone else had their rear screen replaced?

Hi Anthony. Pleased to hear your work has been approved OK. What is the basis for the rear screen replacement?

cheshire_carper asked a good question - what clutch sounds??

I have never owned an S2000 before and am now a proud owner of a Jan 2000 registered car, as the warranty expires in January - what should I be listening for?

Thanks,

- Frisky

You'll get a buzzing noise when decelerating between about 4K-2.5K RPM.

If you've got the buzz, you can get the clutch changed under warranty!

There is a sort of buzzy/grinding sort of noise under deceleration but I thought that was just the note from the exhaust(?).

I am going to have to meet with someone who knows the difference between a good and bad clutch to tell me which I have!!

What does the buzzing signify?

The buzzing is nothing to worry about, but it something that was addressed by Honda on the newer models. It's something to do with the casing I believe, which in a normal car wouldn't be heard, but because where the gearbox / clutch sit on the S, it can be. The new clutch does away with the buzzing!

I also understand that some of the older S with the original clutch had gearbox problems, but I think that the numbers affected were pretty small. The dealer who changes your clutch will be able to advise on this (hopefully!)

Theres always Surrey/Kent pub meets going on mid-week that you could get to easily enough. It would also be worth finding out what dealer owners in surrey have used to get their clutch done - at least then you can be sure the dealer knows about the TSB and won't try and fob you off with the "it just transmission noise" one.......

Do a search on the UK forum - there is loads of stuff over the past year on this issue - loads of people have had this done now...

If I take my car to Marshalls (Reading) and say that I know there are issues with older clutches and does my car fall into this group - will they be honest enough to test it and admit if it is?
