If the cause was the engine it may not be so bad....

Did you have the oil bolt recall work done? If so you would have got an extra years warranty on the engine.

6500rpm had a problem where the bottom of his engine had cracked. That was a new engine job I'm afraid. Sorry to make your evening worse Kris. Good luck, and remember that extra years engine warranty - you'll be ok.

I went on the Honda website and checked that all the recalls had been done, which they had. What is the info on the extra years warranty on the engine?

Honda extend the engine warranty for a year on all cars that have had the oil bolt recall. You don't need to do anything, it's automatic.

Dave's (6500rpm) had a crack at the bottom of the engine and all the oil poured out on his drive IIRC. Engine just turned over but wouldn't fire, not suprisingly.

Oh right i see. Would this work apply to a 2001 Y? How could i check if this has been done? If it hasn't am i in the poop?

If Honda's website says it's been done that would be good enough for me.

3yrs manufacturers warranty + 1 yr extra engine warranty means any 2001 car will be covered until Jabuary.
