Mark's covered all the points I think. It's an offence full stop.......BUT... I can't see anyone going down the steps for an honest mistake such as that. As always you're dependant on the copper having the life experience and basic judgement to assess what sort of person you are in the first instance. I think I'd be directing you to the nearest place to get them made up while you wait, and popping round the nick to see me when you'd done it. It's not a cynical attempt to deceive ....bearing in mind your correct reg no is on your tax disc.

This throws up another interesting question. What happens if your number plate is broken? It could become very difficult to find the owner of a silver S2000, with the registration S200 O..
