Default Wrong Tyres Fitted

Just had new rear tyres fitted on 2003 S with local Honda dealer. They've fitted Turanza range rather than Potenza RE050A as recommended by Bridgestone. When I phoned to ask why they fitted them, they said it was just a new tyre pattern. After looking on the Bridgestone website looks like they are not suitable at all. How do I stand legally to get the garage to replace them at their cost.

Twits!
Hopefully you wont have to get legal.

Just point out they are the wrong tyres - refer to the written evidence i.e. the manual, bridgestone's own advice etc, and ask them to change them. If any problem write a letter to them requesting the change and CC Honda UK. I can't see how they can argue their way out of it. Just stand your ground.

Couldn't say how you stand legally, but I had a similar issue when I bought an 04 S from a dealer, see:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=473782

Basically they supplied the car to with the wrong RE050 tyres for the 17" 04 model (not MZ's!). They probably bought the car with these on there.

I went back to the dealer and pointed out these weren't the correct tyres for the car. Without any hassle they agreed to replace all four tyres with me paying 50% of the trade price.

So, I think you need to go back to the dealer and make your case, if you don't get any joy go to the service manager, then the sales manager and then to Honda UK.

They've blatently fitted the "wrong" recommended tyre to the car and they should know better and put the "correct" tyres on as Bridgestone recommends.

Don't let them brush you off. Good Luck!

Don't bother with Event either, they have installed the wrong tyres on my car possibly causing me to do some off roading.

Just check the Turanzas fitted have the right speed rating i.e. 150 mph plus. (Last time I checked I seem to recall they don't come with that rating.) If not I suspect your dealer is in trouble as they have fitted a possibly illegal tyre...

You haven't said if you specifically asked for the RE050A's?
Nothing wrong with substituting tyres, and certainly nothing illegal provided they cover the anticipated speed range of the vehicle.
If you didn't spec, you better be nice as I dont see you can really blame them.

Had a pair of MZ's fitted locally via Blackcircles.com. With the discount from S2K the price was very good. No issues with the fitters which surprised me for this location. They were well aware of the model specific rubber on this car too which was refreshing. A plus vote for Blackcircles then
